“Seashell is a national learning disability charity, and we are proud to have Her Majesty The Queen as Patron. Seashell supports children and young people with complex learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional communication needs from across the UK. We provide education, care, and support for people aged from 2 to 25 years at our outstanding school and college, our residential homes, and through our supported living services, community facilities, and services that we offer beyond our Cheadle Hulme site”.

“Inscape House School is based in Cheadle, Stockport within a secure, purpose-built, specialist SEND setting. Our school is fully DDA compliant with sensory adaptations to provide a low stimulus environment for our students learning. We have a number of specialist facilities which include a multi-sensory room, a soft play area, individual learning environments and a variety of play areas which are suited to different kinds of activity, including a sensory garden and 4D interactive technologies”.

Plus opportunity to do brief tour of Chester & maybe meal / food before return train
Day 4 Thursday 9 June
Morning: Attending and thriving: lessons on inclusion from autistic adolescent girls who stopped attending school ………. Dr Ruth Moyse
This half-day presentation will draw on her research with autistic girls in mainstream primary and secondary settings. It will cover:

Day 5 : Friday 10 June
Attend Manchester Autism show Conference & Exhibition in association with the National Autistic Society
The Autism Show (Manchester) – talks, discussions, stands, stalls etc https://manchester.autismshow.co.uk/
Access over 100 hours of specialist talks, clinics and workshops at this year’s Autism Show.
Once inside the event, all theatres and features are free to enter and content is CPD certified for professionals

Speakers Short Bios
Gareth Morewood
Gareth D Morewood is the Educational Advisor for Studio III (www.studio3.org). Previously he has worked for 25 years in U.K. schools; the last 17 of which were as SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) in a large, inclusive secondary school in the North West of England.
Gareth has extensive ‘front-line’ experience supporting schools, families and working directly with young people in the U.K. and abroad, most recently Chile, Dubai, Portugal, Scandinavia and Ireland.
Gareth has a significant body of published works, films and resources.
As part of his role as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, Gareth has worked on a range of projects; predominantly to do with the inclusion of young people with complex needs and in supporting autistic learners in their local schools as part of the wider inclusion agenda.
Andy Smith

I am Andy, the founder of Spectrum Gaming. https://www.spectrumgaming.net/ I am also a keen autistic advocate and of course an avid gamer!
Spectrum Gaming is an online community for autistic young people which has three main intended outcomes: Building Friendships, Increasing Self-Acceptance and Advocacy.
Dr Ruth Moyse
Dr Ruth Moyse is a Visiting Research Fellow at ACoRNS University of Southampton and a Director and Associate at AT-Autism. Ruth is interested in using participatory research and creative methods to understand and inform the education of autistic children and young people, particularly the female experience. Her doctoral research at the University of Reading explored why some adolescent autistic girls stop attending mainstream Secondary schools.
Lynn McCann
Lynn is an Independent Specialist Autism and PDA teacher and consultant, owner of Reachout ASC and author of “How to support pupils with ASC in Primary School” “How to Support students with ASC in Secondary School”, and “Stories that Explain (a book of Social Stories), all published by LDA. Our website Www.reachoutasc.com has all the information you need about our services. Myself and my colleague, Emma Turver, are highly experienced autism specialists and will visit schools and other organisations to provide training, support, advice and resources. We firmly believe that every autistic person is unique and our approach is to get to know each individual so that what we advise is right for them. We work with pupils from EYS through KS1-4 and in further education. We are a centre of excellence for Autism, PDA and Autism in girls.
Hilary Forbes an autism specialist, and autistic, works with us to provide training for supporting Autistic adults in the workplace.
Ruth Kiley a Sensory Integration Practitioner and Occupational Therapist, works with us to carry out sensory assessments and provide sensory programmes and support.
Lynn also writes a blog on our website, which is full of informative articles about autism and writes for various other publications.
She has also presented at the National Autism and Education Shows. Reachout ASC is a content partner with Schudio TV providing high quality online Autism training
Dr Ismail Farhat

The event will begin with a reception on the morning of 6th June 2022 and will finish on 10th June 2022. Your early reservation is highly recommended to secure your place in this unique programme.

The programme language is English with Arabic Translation, if needed
International travel
Participants should make their own travel arrangements to and from the programme venue. We strongly advise all participants to make return reservations before leaving their own country as it may be difficult to make them after arrival at the event.
