Day 1:  

 Morning & Afternoon

 Quality Teaching in Early Years

This full day course will help you raise the quality of your teaching and demonstrate its impact at inspection authorities.

  • Quality child-led learning
  • Scaffolding learning, challenging and questioning
  • Teaching and the Characteristics of Effective Learning
  • The Education Inspection Framework
  • Demonstrating your teaching approaches to Ofsted
  • Adult-led teaching

Day 2:

Morning: Nursery 1 visit

Afternoon:

Quality Counts workshop (Accreditation)

This 3 hour workshop will look at the benefits of achieving the quality counts accreditation. It will cover in detail the process of the learning journey and evaluating the quality of the provision for children. There will be practical activities included on the exemplification statements and what nurseries can expect from the assessment visit. We will also be able to demonstrate the Quality Counts system.

  • Access to the online system
  • Audit tool & evaluation
  • Exemplification documents
  • The assessment process

Day 3 :

Leadership & Management

Please note this course is for experienced managers. The aim of this course is to equip you with the leadership and management skills needed to raise your setting’s practice to outstanding levels.

Key course topics:

  • Becoming a leader of outstanding practice
  • Managing, influencing and leading your team
  • Identify improvements you can make to your setting
  • Leadership and Management requirements of regulatory frameworks
  • Creating a vision and setting goals
  • Working well as a team.

  • Love-based leadership approach*
  • Conflict resolution
  • Leading team meetings.

*The love-based leadership approach is based on contemporary research from the University of Lapland, Finland, and offers a fresh approach to leadership, incorporating the emotional aspects of developing a strong team.

Day 5:

Morning:

Manchester museum (children section) visit

Programme evaluation and wrap up.
